ADHD
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), often described as an attention disorder with or without hyperactivity and impulsivity, is widely recognized for its impact on focus and self-regulation.
ADHD manifests itself in different ways in different individuals and at different times in life. The degree of difficulty and the type of difficulty varies from person to person.
The core symptoms of ADHD:
- Difficulty paying attention
- Impulsivity
- Overactivity
Some people with ADHD have only one of the core symptoms, while others have several.
Living with ADHD
There is much that can make it easier for people with ADHD and provide good conditions for a functioning everyday life.
Well-structured everyday life. Requirements, expectations, and environments need to be adapted to avoid stress and overload.
Psychosocial interventions. The interventions can be family training and adaptation at school and the workplace.
Medication. Central stimulant medication is sometimes prescribed to relieve the symptoms of ADHD.
Understanding surroundings. The environment plays a decisive role in how severe the disability becomes.
An understanding environment makes life easier for those with ADHD and increases the chances of a well-functioning everyday life.
